We were working this in class today. The hardest part was hitting that top gaku hard enough to make the guy fall. It felt like an advanced  and very "Kokodo" waza, with lots of interesting concepts, like correct footwork, transfer of body weight,  and rotating the uke's hand to bar his arm with his own shuto. Challenging.

The audience missed Soke's joke about, "His name is Neck," haha. I've never done this waza before.

We were working this in class today, we had a little trouble getting the uke to go down to one knee.

This is the one where the attacker used to step on the thigh, right?

Thanks, I'll work on these. Your goshin "hug the elbow" variation is identical to what I do in Kali.

Thanks for the deep dive. I liked that summary at the end: shuto zeme, kote gaeshi, describe a circle, drop.

Michael Seamark Oh, haha, now it makes sense. Thank you.

Nice defensive movement. When  you reached into the kimono, did you say, "crush the egg?" I wasn't sure I heard right. When I was young we'd throw loose change, by the way. And I knew someone who kept a pepper packet in a pocket, and could tear it and fling it in the eyes with one hand.

These are fun. I'll practice them with the class tomorrow.
